The Passenger is a series of intimate portraits capturing the essence of individuals encountered in the bustling metropolis of Phnom Penh. By inviting strangers to participate in this photographic exploration, I sought to create a space for vulnerability and connection. Through close-up framing, I aimed to magnify the nuances of each subject's expression, inviting viewers to delve into the complexities of their inner worlds.
Beyond the visual, these portraits are a testament to the human experience. Conversations with each participant offered glimpses into their lives, aspirations, and challenges. Their candid responses, coupled with their photographic representation, evoke questions about identity, circumstance, and the nature of human connection.
Who are these individuals? What stories do their faces tell? How do they navigate their existence within the urban landscape? These portraits invite contemplation, challenging preconceived notions and fostering empathy. In essence, The Passenger is an attempt to illuminate the often-overlooked lives of ordinary people, affirming their significance within the broader tapestry of society.
